City anniversary 650 years of Krefeld
3D Video Mapping

Projection art on the historic facade of the Krefeld town hall

Krefeld celebrated its 650th birthday with an anniversary year. The highlight of the celebrations was 3D video mapping on the imposing facade of the centrally located town hall. The light theater showed milestones in the city's history with elaborate animations, music and narrative text: Among other things, the importance of Krefeld as a center of silk production was highlighted. Krefeld fabric patterns, colors and textures ran as a proverbial red thread through the entire mapping. The historic building and its structures were included in the show, allowing architectural history to be experienced. A total of four projectors at a height of six meters, each with 22,000 lumens, provided a razor-sharp image on the facade. Over four autumn evenings, the audiovisual spectacle attracted thousands of visitors, many of whom shared their impressions on social media. The installation became a place for encounters and exchanges and sustainably strengthened the population's sense of community.

The TNL illumination effectively showcased our city's history for the city's 650th anniversary. The people of Krefeld and the guests from the twin cities and the surrounding area were enthusiastic. «
