Light Art Action Against Forgetting
"Every person murdered has a name." December 13, 2021 was the 80th anniversary of the deportation from Bielefeld to Riga. On this day in 1941, the first deportation from Bielefeld train station to the ghettos and extermination camps in the East took place, in which 420 Jewish children, women and men from all over East Westphalia-Lippe and Schaumburg-Lippe were deported. . For this occasion, students from the Ursuline Laboratory School and the Marienschule researched the biographies of Bielefeld residents deported to Riga and dealt with their fate. In an artistic research process, texts were developed and performances and videos were created that open up spaces for remembrance from a contemporary perspective. They shared the results with the many people who gathered that day to commemorate those killed, in the form of a facade projection at Kesselbrink. "A person is only forgotten when his name is forgotten."
